2010: A Good Year

Posted by Matt in Social Media

It’s been a year of firsts – changes that have happened in my life are ensuring 2011 is going to be another fantastic year.

This year saw the birth of my son, Noah – a comical little boy that doesn’t seem to be able to stop smiling. Coming 6 weeks early, it was over two weeks from when he was born until he came home but since then he has flourished. As I write this, he is destroying my Macbook Pro power lead, blowing raspberries and making a complete mess of the living room.

I don’t think Katie or I would have it any other way.

Next year will see the birth of our second child, another boy, due at the end of March. Whist we didn’t specifically plan to have a second child so soon after Noah, we were glad there will be 14 months between the two, so they are close but not too close in age.

Perhaps the biggest thing to happen to me personally (Noah excluded) was the fact I was able to start working for The Next Web full-time, helping lead the charge up the blogging ranks to become one of the biggest blogs in the world in just one year. I have been lucky enough to work with some really passionate, intelligent people that deeply care about what they do and how they go about educating readers.

So what does 2011 hold? Who knows.

What I do know is that I will see the birth of my second child, I will help make The Next Web the world’s number one tech blog and I hope to work hard enough to allow for some nice holidays and the chance to spoilmy beautiful wife.

Cheers!
