If You Could Create An iPhone App, What Would You Make?
This question was floated to me at work today and it really got me thinking. I have always been interested in developing my own iPhone application but haven’t ever really had the resources and especially the money to make a dream a reality.
There are three other iPhone owners in the office and they came short. Pondering for a few moments, my idea was as follows:
You are planning a party or a gathering and you want to get people motivated and make sure you know who is attending, who might be able to pop in and who flat out isn’t going to bother coming. In my world, you take your phone, you fire up this app and you go through your iPhone contacts selecting who you want to invite.
The app will be able to reference your email contacts, your Twitter, Facebook and your chat buddies, providing a carpet bomb of invites to all those you converse with across many different networks.
The invite is populated with all the general information, you add a place, a time, a map link and even website URL’s of the places you are visiting. This is then sent via the app, which will send a tailored MMS message with the above information to fellow iPhone owners and an email to those who don’t.
People reply with their decision, this is then collated via a website or the app itself.
Now for the cool part.
If there is no selected location for your meet, the invitees can select (whether they received an email an iPhone alert) where they are in country and then the application will determine a location situated somewhere in the country that is geographically equal to everyone invited. What the app does is, is help make the decision of where, when and how you can get to your meetup.
That is a very barbones idea and it can probably be achieved with the medium of Facebook, this could help companies, individuals and all out partygoers organise and distribute parties and their details with the minimum of fuss.
Now…who wants to fund me?!
